Nicola (pronounced Ni-Kuh-Luh) is a professional photographer with nearly 18 years of experience encompassing digital, film, and alternative photographic processes. A native of Savannah, Georgia, she relocated to Colorado 11 years ago to work towards dedicating herself fully to her photography passions. Initially arriving in Denver as a ‘sports & live events’ photographer her artistic journey took a transformative turn after experiencing her first tintype portrait.

While largely self-taught in photography as a whole, Nicola attributes a significant part of her growth in wet plate to the mentorship of Quinn Jacobson, a renowned revivalist of the modern day wet plate collodion process. Through his rigorous workshop and ongoing guidance, she gained invaluable hands-on experience that has shaped her artistic vision and technical expertise. Nicola remains deeply grateful for the impact of this mentorship on her creative journey.

Beyond her artistic pursuits, Nicola is committed to fostering inclusivity and empowerment through photography. Growing up economically challenged in the deep South- the parts of Savannah folks try to hide, she has made it her mission to provide educational opportunities to individuals from similar backgrounds. Through collaborations and teaching initiatives, she seeks to uplift marginalized communities and share the transformative and healing power of photography.

Ms. Huffstickler specializes in portraiture, landscapes, and fine art floral work. She is one of 20 resident artists at "The Temple," a creative hub located in Denver's Five Points neighborhood. Nicola offers a range of services, including private studio and natural light sessions, weddings, pop-ups, and various events. She is especially passionate about working with musicians, and working with artists of different mediums. To collaborate or book a session, please visit the contact page.
